RAID DATA RECOVERY SERVICES BY ITS - Data Recovery
ITS - Data Recovery routinely performs Data Recovery from many types of RAID, NAS and SAN Servers. We have the advanced technology, experience and technical know how to get data back from multi-drive RAID systems and Servers.
RAID Data Recovery Jobs are treated as high priority recoveries. We first provide an initial diagnosis and then create a raw image of all data from accessible media if needed. Our analysis then determines the potential data loss situation. ITS thoroughly tests the components and examines the computers internal diagnostics to determine the extent of physical damage.
Many times we need to replace failed or damaged components to recover crashed hard disks. We do so in a Class 100 Clean room environment and use specialized hardware and software tools to create the raw image.It should be noted that RAID systems are not designed to protect against "power" failures or "human" error, which accounts for over 50% of the RAID recoveries we receive on a monthly basis. RAID stands for "Redundant Array of Independent Disks" or "Redundant Array of Inexpensive Drives's"This technology creates fast and reliable disk-drive subsystems out of individual disks. RAID guards against disk failure. It can also lead to a false sense of security.

What does RAID Data Recovery Cost?
Unlike Desktop and Laptop Hard disk Drives and other digital media we do not charge a flat rate for Data Recovery on RAID Systems. Compared to industry standards our rates are very reasonable however. Most jobs run from $1000.00 to $5000.00. Usually we charge an evaluation fee that ranges from $75.00 to $300.00.
Customer suffers Dell PowerEdge RAID failure, ITS comes to the rescue.
"We lost a server due to a hardware problem on 11/8/07. After technical difficulties with our backup system, we decided we could not wait to see if that would get fixed. We had 100 customers down. So we contacted ITS for assistance. We delivered the entire Dell PowerEdge 2950 Server to ITS and within 72 hours, ITS had our data recovered. Not only that, but they fixed the RAID controller on the server while they were at it. The next day, we had all 100 customers back in service. We really appreciate Dan and his staff at ITS for working so hard to recover our data. ITS went over and beyond to get this data back for us and at a reasonable price too. We will definitely use ITS again in the future if we ever require data recovery."
Thanks ITS.

What do I need to do to get started?
For RAID 0/1 we usually require that you send us only the drives in. For RAID 5 systems we require you send us the whole RAID system including drives, controller and server. Fill out our Job Request Form to get started or Request a free a quote. Our prices are very competitive.

Here's a description of common RAID type's.
Min. # Drives |
Description |
Advantages |
DisAdvantages |
RAID 0 |
|||
Two
|
Partitions divided into stripes and then interleaved. |
Very high performance. |
Offers no redundancy. |
RAID 1 |
|||
Two
|
This is also referred to as "disk mirroring". Two or more partitions, all of the same size, each store an exact copy of all data, disk-block by disk-block. | Strong protection against disk failure. High performance. | Least efficient in terms of storage. Can store no more data than a single partition. |
RAID 2 |
|||
Four
|
Combines RAID 0 (Data Striping) & RAID 1 (Data Mirroring). |
Highest performance and data protection. Tolerates two or more disk failures. | High redundancy and thus higher cost. Requires a minimum of four drives. |
RAID 2 & 3 |
|||
Three |
Seldom used anymore. Made obsolete by modern disk technology. | Similar to RAID 4. | Requires all drive spindles to be synchronized. |
RAID 4 |
|||
Three
|
Interleaves stripes like RAID 0 and requires additional partition to store parity. Parity is used to offer redundancy. RAID 4 is not widely used. | Supports data striping of multiple read requests. | Does not offer the read performance of mirroring and offers considerably degraded write performance. |
RAID 5 |
|||
Three
|
Employs block level data striping with distributed parity . Avoids write-bottleneck of RAID-4 by alternately storing the parity stripes on each of the drives. | Very high performance and data protection. Offers protection against single drive failure. Offers far more storage capacity when used with three or more drives. |
Read and write performance is still not as good as mirroring. High redundancy means higher cost. |
